Pandit Bhimsen Joshi is generally acknowledged to be one of the foremost contemporary vocalists of Hindustani music. Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi was born on February 14, 1922, in the village of Gadag, in the Dharwad district of Karnataka in South India. Born to a conservative school-master, he was drawn to music from a young age, but his father insisted that he get a sound education in a respectable profession like medicine or engineering. Having the background of the historical city of Pune, he started learning Indian Classical Music from well-known Pandit Ajit Soman. Since 1989, Milind is fortunate enough to be under the wings of world famous Bansuri virtuoso Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia for the advance training. Music is an essential part of our lives. This includes what humans orchestrate and what nature offers us. Have you ever spent sometime during the day to listen to the tuneful sounds around us? The birds and bees, the leaves of the tree swaying with the wind and the animals; they are all a part of the natural orchestra. Their sounds are as melodious as the ones created by manmade musical instruments and human vocals. Four musicians with diverse music backgrounds, These individuals who have spent over 12 years in the music business and played all over the country and abroad with bands as versatile as Ezee Meat, X-Ost, Fusion Ensemble, Mystic Frost and Jet Set, formed the band Strange Brew in the year 1999.
